The National Investment Agency under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Public-Private Partnership Center have launched the final phase of a pilot project to build a solar power plant with a capacity of up to 150 MW in the Konorchok village of the Naryn region in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The project is being implemented with technical support from the International Finance Corporation and is considered a step towards developing renewable energy sources in the country. The development of 'green' energy is one of the priority areas for the Kyrgyz Republic.
"The implementation of this project is significant for the country's energy sector. It lays the foundation for attracting private investments into the renewable energy sector and further developing public-private partnership mechanisms," noted Ravshanbek Sabirov, head of the National Investment Agency under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to him, the implementation of such initiatives contributes to the diversification of energy sources and enhances the country's investment attractiveness.
The project will help partially reduce the electricity shortage and provide a practical basis for applying public-private partnership mechanisms in the energy sector.
