General information

Kyrgyzstan is one of the most promising tourism destinations in Central Asia. Lake Issyk-Kul — the world's second-largest mountain lake — attracts over 2 million tourists annually. Ski resorts, Tien Shan trekking, cultural and ecotourism drive growing visitor numbers.

In 2024, over 6 million foreign tourists visited the country. Visa-free entry is available for citizens of 60+ countries. The government is developing a four seasons concept, positioning Kyrgyzstan as a year-round destination.

The Law on Tourism (2019) defines tourism zones with special regimes, simplified hotel registration and ecotourism support.
