Bilateral agreements

Investment Protection

Currently, the Kyrgyz Republic is a party to bilateral agreements on mutual support, encouragement, and protection of investments with more than 20 countries, including the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Russia, China, India, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and others.

These agreements provide foreign and local investors with equal rights and favorable investment conditions consistent with international legal instruments. Furthermore, these agreements provide guarantees for investment protection and fundamental rights, such as the free transfer of income and payments, compensation in the event of expropriation, and establish principles of subrogation and dispute resolution rules. Double Taxation Treaties

The Kyrgyz Republic has also signed Double Taxation Treaties with 27 countries, with three countries currently pending. Below is a list of current double taxation treaties. International Agreements

The Kyrgyz Republic joined the United Nations (UN) in 1992 and has also become a member of several international organizations, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Since 1991, the country has been a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). In 1993, the Kyrgyz Republic joined the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Kyrgyzstan maintains ongoing cooperation with the following international organizations:

— Asian Development Bank (ADB),

— Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE),

— European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD),

— Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD),

— Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and others.

Since 1992, the Kyrgyz Republic has been a member of the Economic Commission for Europe. The Kyrgyz Republic’s cooperation with the Global Environment Facility (GEF) is also expanding.
