On May 24-25, 2016 a meeting of the Expert Group for the development of public-private partnerships (PPP) in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) under the Consultative Committee on Entrepreneurship under the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (hereinafter - the Group of Experts) was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. In the meeting participated members of the Expert Group from the Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, as well as representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Eurasian Development Bank and the Federal Center for Project Finance. The Kyrgyz side was represented by the Director of the Investment Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Alymbek Orozbekov and the Head of the Agency’s PPP development department, Daniyar Abdyldaev.
Under the agenda of the meeting members of the Expert Group informed about the current state of implementation of PPP, PPP development prospects and the experience in implementation of PPP projects in the members states of the EAEC. They also discussed a number of topical issues on PPP development in EAEC countries. Representatives of the Eurasian Development Bank and the Federal Center for Project Finance spoke about the possibility of financing PPP projects, including projects of integrative nature.
During the meeting A. Orozbekov noted the importance of developing this platform for exchanging experience and offered to hold the next meeting in the Kyrgyz Republic. At the end of the event the PPP institutes of the member states of the EAEC signed a Memorandum on cooperation, which provides a further desire of the parties to develop cooperation in the field of PPP.
